I would like some legal advice as my ongoing probation has expired I've reported on time even though I haven't paid all $980 as of today 4/18/2011. What is the worst case scenario, I was told by my P.O. today that a warrant will be issued for me. When Iturn my self in how long will I be in jail as I have no job and no money to pay the remainder, this is for driving w/ no insurance while job hunting.
Leah, I would call the prosecutor's office and try to work out a deal to resolve your technical violation. The problem with going to jail is that no bond will be set without a special motion to the judge. This usually requires a lawyer and many public defenders don't make bond motions a high priority due to other pressing concerns. You could sit in jail awhile. The practice varies from court to court, but 90-120 days is not unusual. Contact the public defender in the county where you reside for assistance asap.
